I developed and published the project Backup Files, which I worked on for nearly three months. The main goal was to create a small and simple backup tool that could automatically pick up files and create backups of my open files—for example, Visual Studio files (which are often open and locked by the program, preventing proper saving).

I had to work with VSS, which was a new experience for me. I tried to choose the most reliable shadow copy mechanism, and now it is possible to work even with open files. This project is important to me and essential for my own workflow, so the program is published as-is, free of charge.

If you are also looking for a way to protect your files, you can try this program. Who might it be suitable for? Small offices where files are frequently modified or added, home users who edit documents and want to ensure their safety, and anyone concerned about protecting documents, files, and folders.

It is especially useful if you make frequent changes to files — in that case, you can always restore, for example, a version from 10 minutes ago or from yesterday. All of this can be configured in Backup Files.
