APTOFI Video Tools — Simple Video Joining and Trimming

A lightweight portable tool for joining, trimming and re-encoding video files without opening a large and complicated video editor.

Sometimes I work with video, and using a complex professional editor just to perform one or two simple tasks is not always convenient.

In my workflow, I occasionally need to trim a few seconds from the beginning or end of a video, or join two or three video clips into a single file. So I developed a separate lightweight application for these tasks: APTOFI Video Tools.

I also published the source code on GitHub. Yes, I have a GitHub now too. I will be glad if you check it out and follow my projects there.

What APTOFI Video Tools Can Do
01
Join Video Files

Combine multiple video files into a single output file in the exact order you choose. The application attempts to preserve the original video parameters and quality whenever possible.

02
Trim Video

Remove unwanted time from the beginning or the end of every individual video file before joining.

03
Re-encode and Compress

Re-encode video when necessary, change output parameters manually and compress video using codecs available through FFmpeg.

Designed for Simple Everyday Tasks

APTOFI Video Tools is not intended to replace a full video editor. Its purpose is the opposite: to make several common operations fast and straightforward.

Add the video files, arrange them in the required order, optionally enable trimming for individual clips, select the output folder and start processing.

The original source files are not modified. APTOFI Video Tools creates a new output file and leaves the original videos untouched.
Automatic Video Parameters

By default, the application can take the output parameters from the first video in the job. Resolution, frame rate, bitrate, audio parameters and container information are analyzed before processing.

Files with different resolutions can be converted to common output parameters. Vertical video orientation is detected and preserved instead of being stretched or rotated incorrectly.

Hardware Acceleration

When compatible hardware acceleration is available on the current computer, APTOFI Video Tools can use a hardware video encoder instead of relying entirely on CPU encoding.

The application checks the encoding capabilities available through the installed FFmpeg build and the current Windows system before starting a job.

Multiple Jobs

Several independent jobs can be prepared in the same window. Files inside a job can be reordered using drag and drop, and the jobs themselves can also be reordered.

Jobs are processed sequentially so the currently active task can use the available computer resources efficiently.

Interface Languages

The interface is currently available in 12 languages: English, Russian, Ukrainian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian and Polish.

Technology
C# 7.3 .NET Framework 4.8 WPF FFmpeg / FFprobe x64 Portable

The project uses FFmpeg and FFprobe for media analysis and processing. FFmpeg itself is a separate third-party project and is not included in the source repository.
